From the 1st of August the Church enters the period of fasting of the Fifteenth of August, which lasts until the 14th of August. Saint Symeon of Thessaloniki states that this fast "is intended in honor of the Mother of the Word of God, who, knowing her holy transition from the world, always advocates for you, and fasted, although she had no need to fast, as pure and innocent, and she lived angelically, the highest of the Angels and prayed constantly and always for us. supplicant. During this period we fast all days of the week, except Saturday and Sunday, when only wine and oil are catalyzed.
