The feast of Agios Mamandos in the homonymous village of Mylopotamostranslated

On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the annual commemoration of the Holy Martyr Mamatos was solemnly celebrated in the village of the same name in the Municipality of Mylopotamos. The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, Mr. Prodromos officiated during Orthros and celebrated the High Priestly Divine Liturgy, supported by clergy of the Holy Metropolis of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, as well as Protopresbyter Nikolaos Kritsotakis, Vicar of the Parish of Agios Myronos of the Holy Archdiocese of Crete, who, according at the prompting of His Holiness, he preached theologically the Divine word.

After the end of the Divine Liturgy, which was attended by the authorities of the place and many people of the Parish, a small litany of the Holy Icon and the Holy Relics of Agios Mamatos took place inside the village. This was followed by a memorial service to the Hero of the village, in favor of all the rested and finished for faith and country.

In his eulogy, His Eminence Metropolitan Mr. Prodromos thanked everyone for their presence and participation in the celebration and emphasized in particular that Saint Mamas, who is honored as a child martyr, is a role model for everyone and especially for young children.
