October 2: Saint Cyprian of Carthage celebratestranslated

Today, the Church honors the memory of the Hieromartyr Kyprianos and the Parthenomartyr Justina, Saint Theophilos, patron of icons during the period of iconoclasm, and Saint Neomartyr Georgios, who was martyred in 1794 in Karatzasou, Asia Minor, proud of his Christian faith. Cyprian, from Antioch in Syria, noble, rich, philosopher and magician, converted to Christianity when he tried to subjugate the faith of Justin and failed.
While he used all the power of his magical knowledge, he finally admitted and believed that the only almighty God is Jesus Christ, for whose love he then bravely accepted the greatest tortures together with the virgin Justine. They were both beheaded during the reign of Decius and became evidence of Christian martyrdom.
