The Sunday after the Elevation of the Holy Cross in Agios Ioannis Aliveritranslated

On Sunday September 20, 2026, the Sunday after the Exaltation of the Holy and Life-giving Cross, His Eminence Metropolitan Mr. Seraphim of Karystia and Skyros went to Agios Ioannis Aliveriou, the birthplace of Saint Porphyrios of Kausokalyvitos, where he presided over the Divine Liturgy in the Parish Church of Agios Dimitrios. The Holy Liturgy was attended by Archimandrites Nektarios Kapenis and Antonios Angelopoulos, as well as Protopresbyter Evangelos Vogiatzis, vicar of the Holy Church, and retired Elder Anargyros Tsipokas.

During the Social, His Eminence Metropolitan Mr. Seraphim preached the divine word, referring extensively to the deeper content of the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, as well as to the life of the celebrated Saint Eustathius and his family.

At the same time, His Holiness analyzed, on the occasion of the Gospel passage of the day, the issue of immortality and the salvation of the soul.

After the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Metropolitan of Karystia and Skyros, Mr. Seraphim presided over the celebration of a holy memorial service for a pious parishioner, the offspring of a priestly family.
