Gortyni Cathedral: The Holy Cara of Agios Titos in Messara - 60 years since its return to Cretetranslated

Clergy and believers in Messara are preparing to commemorate with deep rejoicing and reverence the arrival of the Holy Cara of Saint Titus, the first Apostle and Bishop of Crete. The holy relic will be transported in a sacred procession from Heraklion, on the two days of August 22 and 23, 2026, as part of the events to mark the 60th anniversary of its historic return from Venice.

The holy procession will be led by the Archbishop of Crete Mr. Evgenios. The official reception will be held on Saturday afternoon by the clergy of the wider area, headed by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Gortyn and Arcadia, Mr. Makarios, who is also responsible for organizing the honorary events.
