The settlement of Agios Germanos Prespa honored the Virgin Marytranslated

In the chapel of the Dormition of the Virgin, in Agios Germanos Prespon, today, Sunday, August 16, 2026, the established celebration was held, with the participation of a large number of believers from the villages of the area as well as visitors. In the special corner of Prespa, where the mountainous landscape meets the lakes and the natural beauty is connected with the centuries-old history of the place, the faithful went up early to the chapel to participate in the Divine Liturgy and honor the Most Holy Theotokos.

The presence of people of all ages gave special liveliness to the festival. Residents who hold fast the customs and traditions of the land, families who are returning these days to their place and visitors to Prespa met around the small chapel, creating the image of a celebration deeply connected to the life of the area.

Prespes, a place of special natural beauty but also an important ecclesiastical and historical route, keeps alive even today the small chapels, festivals and religious gatherings that for generations have been points of reference for its people.

The large turnout at this year's festival highlighted once again...

Sounds like a beautiful spot where the lakes and hills come together. I like how the families who return home each year keep those little chapels going—must feel special climbing up there with everyone. Did the liturgy start early in the morning?
