Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Theodore II: 22 years at the helm of the Church of Saint Marktranslated

Today marks twenty-two years since the election to the Throne of Saint Mark of the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, Mr. Theodorou. It was October 9, 2004 when the then Custodian of the Throne, Metropolitan Petros of Axomis from the Holy Church of Agios Savvas of Alexandria announced his popular election from Zimbabwe Theodore, with the people exclaiming Akios! The years of the First Hierarchy of the Alexandrian Throne have been identified with the sacrificial offering for the people of Africa, with the struggles and the witness of Orthodoxy in the modern world as well as the message of unity, peace and love which is constantly being sent by Mr. Theodore II from the Mediterranean Sea to the whole world.
Anniversary with the convocation of the Local Synod This year's anniversary of His Beatitude's election was celebrated in a special way which expresses the synodal spirit and unity of the Church of Saint Mark. Convening yesterday, Thursday, October 8, 2026, the Indigenous Synod in Alexandria. This Synod was an important opportunity for meaningful communication, cooperation and common concern for the course and future of the Alexandrian Church.
