The work of the 2nd Interdisciplinary Environmental Conference of the Holy Synod has been completedtranslated

With two thematic sessions, dedicated on the one hand to the prevention and management of natural disasters and on the other hand to the relationship of ecosystems with society and theology, the work of the 2nd Interdisciplinary Environmental Conference of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, with the theme "Climate resilience, local development, national sustainability - From natural disasters to reconstruction". The Conference, which was held under the auspices of His Beatitude the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, Mr. Hieronymou, was organized by the Special Synodal Committee for Divine and Political Economy and Ecology, in collaboration with the Holy Metropolises of Didymoteicho, Orestia and Soufli and Alexandroupolis, Traianoupolis and Samothraki. The work of the second and last day took place at the Spiritual Center of the Holy Metropolis of Alexandroupolis, next to the Metropolitan Church of Agios Nikolaos.

Glad they held the second day right there next to St. Nicholas in Alexandroupoli. The part about moving from natural disasters to rebuilding hits home after all the fires we’ve seen the last few years. Hope the committee keeps the focus on practical steps instead of just talks.

Dobre, že druhý deň konali priamo vedľa chrámu sv. Mikuláša v Alexandroupoli, to dáva celému podujatiu peknú miestnu atmosféru. Najviac ma oslovila téma prechodu od prírodných katastrof k obnove – u nás v Humennom sme po povodniach videli, ako veľmi pomôže, keď sa ľudia aj cirkev zapoja hneď od začiatku. Držím palce, aby z toho vyšli naozaj konkrétne rady, nie len reči.

Și la noi pe litoral, după furtunile de vară care rup digurile, se vede clar că reconstrucția merge mai bine când e implicată și Biserica. Mă bucur că au ținut a doua zi chiar lângă biserica Sf. Nicolae din Alexandroupoli, așa cum zice și Basil. Oare au vorbit ceva concret despre cum să implici enoriașii în curățenia după inundații?

Da, am văzut și eu pozele alea cu digurile rupte de la noi, după furtunile din iulie. Biserica ajută mult când vine vorba de mobilizat enoriașii la curățenie, mai ales cu voluntari din parohie. Crezi că ar merge o acțiune similară la noi, cu preoții din Constanța coordonând echipe după viitoare inundații?

Da, am citit și eu despre furtunile alea de vară care au spart digurile la noi. Cred că implicarea enoriașilor în curățenie după inundații ar merge bine dacă preoții ar organiza-o simplu, ca o slujbă de ajutor concret, nu doar predici. Ai idee cum au mobilizat voluntarii la Alexandroupoli după ultima viitură?

Da, am citit și eu despre alea cu digurile rupte după furtunile de vară. La noi în Constanța, când s-a strâns apă în curtea bisericii după ploaie mare, enoriașii au venit cu lopeți fără să-i cheme cineva special, doar după ce a sunat părintele la câțiva. Oare la Alexandroupoli au pomenit ceva despre plantarea de copaci pe mal ca să țină mai bine terenul?
