Larissa: Volunteer Blood Donation at the Metropolitan Paraklesion of Saint Basiliostranslated

On Friday, September 18, 2026, a volunteer blood donation was successfully carried out at the Metropolitan Paraklesion of Saint Basilios. The Holy Metropolitan of Larissa and Tyrnavos, in collaboration with the General Hospital of Larissa, ensured that the blood donation would be integrated into the celebrations honoring our patron saint, Saint Basilios.
The holy Saint Basilios did not calculate effort or risk when he acted during the Ottoman era to ensure the survival of Thessalian slaves. Thus, in our time, without similar risks and with no threat to our lives, we owe it to ourselves to offer the best for our fellow man.
As His Eminence Archbishop Ioannis emphasized: "Blood cannot be manufactured in laboratories or factories; only a human can donate blood for another human," characterizing the blood donation as "the supreme act of altruism and love." His Eminence thanked the doctors, nursing staff, and Red Cross volunteers who participated with love.
Present at the blood donation process was also the Director of our city's healthcare institution…
