PtD from Kefalonia: "The Saints of our Church and especially Saint Gerasimos are its bright attractions"translated

The President of the Republic Konstantinos An. Tasoulas is visiting Kefalonia on the occasion of the celebration of Saint Gerasimos, the patron saint of the island.

Mr. Tasoulas attended the doxology at the Holy Church of Agios Gerasimos, pre-eminence of the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kefallinia, Mr. Dimitrios.

After the procession of the St. Gerasimos stage, he made the following statement:

"Today, October 20, the island of Kefalonia and Kefallinians all over the world are celebrating their Saint, the new ascetic Saint Gerasimos, with emotion and enthusiasm. From here in Omala, in the foothills of Ainos, we celebrated the procession of the imperishable tent of Agios Gerasimos, in an atmosphere of unprecedented ecstasy and reverence.

For the Kefalonians, Saint Gerasimos and his feast day are not just a sign of reverence. Saint Gerasimos is the foundation of their identity. They identify with him and give him all their hope to face life's difficulties. And they expect from him the same blessing and protection, which within the five centuries since his sleep, he has given to this island.
