October 20: Saint Artemios celebratestranslated

Today the Church honors the memory of Saint Gerasimos of Kefallinia, Saint Matronis Hiopolitis and the Great Martyr Artemios, whom M. Constantine honored with the office of patrician and appointed him Duke and Augustus of Alexandria. In 357 AD Saint Artemios went to Patras, following the order of the Emperor Constantius, son of Constantine the Great, to receive the holy relics of the Apostle Andrew and transfer them to the Church of the Holy Apostles in the Seven-Hilled City (March 3, 357 AD).
Being in Achaia he carried out many social projects. Especially in the area of the Nursing Home Monastery.
With the seizure of power by Julian the Violator and the start of cruel persecutions against the Church, the Saint did not hesitate to go to Antioch and confess before the pagan emperor his Christian identity and test him for his disrespect towards the Gospel. Then, Artemios was subjected to torture and ended up martyred, due to his zeal for Christ.
The deaconess Aristis received his holy relic and took it to Constantinople.
With the embassies and the innumerable ones alive and after death...
