The memory of our Holy Father Athanasios the Younger (Hamakiot) was solemnly celebrated in Amarousio, in the Historical Metropolitan Chapel of Panagia Neratziotissa in Marousi, Attica, where for thirty (30) years he ministered and conquered the hearts of the pious residents of this city, who have never forgotten him to this day. The Church is a laboratory of holiness. There have been, there are, and there will be saints in every age, because God "worked to perfection" (John 5:17). His command "Be ye holy, for I am holy" (1 Pet. 1, 16) has not ceased to be valid. That is why God's grace has not stopped in our days to highlight saints, who live and move among us, who comfort God's people and support the world with their prayers.

Such a figure was the Saint Athanasios the Younger (the Hamakiotis), a man of rare spiritual gifts, who was recently listed in the Holy Book of the Orthodox Church, under the Seventh Ecumenical Patriarchate, according to the canonical order.
