The celebration of Panagia Gorgoepikou in Symitranslated

Today, Thursday, the 1st of October 2026 and the day of the Assembly of the Most Holy Theotokos of the so-called "Gorgoepikou", celebrated in Symi with the appropriate ecclesiastical order, the homonymous Church of the Most Holy Theotokos, located in the Lieni area. The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Symi, Tilos, Chalkis and Kastellorizos, Mr. Chrysostomos, officiated at Orthros and celebrated the Divine Liturgy with his co-celebrants, Panosiols. Archimandrite Father Iosif Adamopoulon, the Protopr. Father Stefanon Makris, General Hierarchical Commissioner, the Ambassador Fr. Georgion Kakakion and the Hierodeacon Fr. Pavlos Terezakis, while the I. Analogue was ministered by the Hieropsaltes Mr. Demosthenes Giannaras and Mr. Eleftherios Xirakis with others.

Taking advantage of this blessed opportunity, His Holiness spoke to the numerous churchgoers, taking the occasion from the history of today's Theotokos Synagogue and the nickname of Our Lady as "Gorgoepikou".
