Foreign Ministry for October 7: A permanent ceasefire in Gaza and a two-state solution, the path to lasting peacetranslated

Today marks three years since the terrorist attack by Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023, which tragically claimed the lives of hundreds of civilians and triggered a dangerous chain of escalation, with serious consequences for peace and stability in the wider region. In a statement on the third anniversary of the attacks, the Foreign Ministry said the return of the hostages was a source of relief and marked a decisive step towards a sustainable settlement.
At the same time, he underlines that the need for the establishment of a permanent ceasefire and the full implementation of the second phase of the 20-point Gaza Peace Plan remains imperative.
Athens reiterates its support for all humanitarian initiatives, as well as for the restart of the political process, aimed at the two-state solution and ensuring Israel's security.
As emphasized in the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two-state solution is the only sustainable way to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East, based on the principles of International Law and the relevant Resolutions of the United Nations Organization.
