Kilkisiou Barolomaeus: "The Holy Cross of our Lord from an instrument of death becomes a tree of life"translated

September 14, 2026 · 1 min read

On Monday, September 14, 2026, the day on which our Church celebrates the Universal Elevation of the Holy and Life-giving Cross, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Polyanis and Kilkisios, Mr. Bartholomeos, presided over the Mystery of the Holy Eucharist which was celebrated in the Solemn Holy Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and Saint George in the village of Neos Gynaikokastro Kilkis. In his speech, His Holiness said, among other things: "The Holy Cross of our Lord from an instrument of death becomes a tree of life. The world sees in the Cross a defeat, a pain, death, a man who surrenders, while the Church sees in the Cross a victory, love, the gate of life and God who surrenders Himself for the salvation of the human race. The Cross is the strength for the weak, it is the hope for the desperate, it is the light for the dark, it is the consolation for the pained, it is the forgiveness for the repentant.
