Inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of Greece in New Orleanstranslated

On September 14, the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Greece in New Orleans took place, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Alexandra Papadopoulos, the Ambassador of Greece to the United States of America Antonis Alexandridis, the Honorary Consul John Dennis Georges, the Mayor of New Orleans Helena Moreno, as well as representatives of the Greek-American community.
In his video message, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis referred to New Orleans' historically special place in the history of the Greek Diaspora in the United States of America, underlining the city's contribution to the formation and development of the Greek-American presence.
The State of Louisiana continues to be home to an active, dynamic and thriving Greek community that has fully integrated into American society while maintaining strong and unbroken ties to Greece.
The operation of the new Honorary Consulate is another important step for strengthening the historical ties between Greece and the Greek diaspora in Louisiana, as well as for the further deepening of Greek-American relations.
