Dimitriados Ignatios: "100 years of life and contribution of the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Pteleos"translated

The solemn Vespers was officiated by Rev. Metropolitan of Dimitrias, Mr. Ignatios, on the occasion of the completion of 100 years of operation of the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Pteleos, in the presence of the MP of Magnesia, Mr. Christos Boukoros, the Mayor of Almyros, Mr. Dimitrios Eseridis, representatives of the Air Force and a multitude of pious Christians. Before the beginning of Vespers, His Eminence, the Holy Clergy and the faithful people welcomed in the forecourt of the Church the Sacred Belt of the Most Holy Theotokos which was brought from the Holy Monastery of Kato Xenia and the Holy Relic of Saint Luke the Physician for the blessing and sanctification of the faithful.

In his speech, His Eminence referred to the completion of a century of life and contribution of the Holy Church and he particularly emphasized the place that the Church holds in the life of every place, pointing out that "for the Orthodox people, the Church is not just a building, but the center of faith, meeting and unity of the local society. The Greeks, wherever they were, wherever they reached the ends of the earth, the first to they did and still do to this day is to build their Church", because "the Church is the essence of their life.
