Archbishop Apostolos: He raised the issue of supporting Greek schools in Canadatranslated

On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the Most Reverend Archbishop of Canada Mr. Apostolos met with the new Ambassador of Greece to Canada, Mr. Vasilios Vikas, and the Secretary General of Hellenism Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Maira Myrogianni, in the presence of the Consul General of Greece in Toronto, Mr. Ioannis Hatzantonakis. The meeting was the first meeting of His Excellency with the Secretary General and provided the opportunity for a particularly constructive dialogue regarding Greek language education in Canada and the strengthening of ties between the younger generations of the Commonwealth of Nations and Greece.

Special emphasis was placed on Greek education and Greek learning programs, with the aim of reaching more young people and cultivating their interest in the Greek language, history and culture. In this context, the importance of the cooperation of the Church with the Greek State to support the educational work of the Community was discussed.
