Festive event of the Hyeropsalts of Lerostranslated

October 31, 2026 · 1 min read

On the evening of Wednesday, October 28, 2026, with special emotion and ecclesiastical splendor, the festive event of the cantors of Leros took place, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the National Anniversary of October 28. Through the speech and the performance of church hymns in honor of the Virgin Mary, the deep connection of the Orthodox faith with Greek history and our national tradition was highlighted. The event was a beautiful opportunity for spiritual upliftment, national remembrance and honoring the Most Holy Theotokos, the Great General of our Nation, as well as the struggles of our ancestors for the freedom of the homeland.

Warm thanks to the choristers, Fr. Sergio Gourlas, Mr. Michail Kasti, Anastasios Hatzilaris, Georgios Gourlas, Georgios Alefragis, Emmanuel Plochoro, Sozonta Lambrou and Angelos Angelidis for their participation and the flawless performance of the psalms as well as to the choir master, Reverend Father Nikolaos Tahliabouri, and Sister Kalliopi Palapougiuk who edited and read the psalms texts.
