Georgias Siow: The Path of Love and Forgiveness Will Unite the Circassian and Georgian Peoplestranslated

"When we try to avoid the cross, to shake it off, to distance ourselves from Christ's cross, to distance ourselves from the Lord Himself, but when we receive it with patience, humility, and prayer, bearing our own cross, then this cross will surely become a benefit for our soul," declared the Most Reverend Patriarch Georgias Siow during his sermon at the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity. Patriarch blessed Orthodox believers on the Feast of the Lifting of the Cross and spoke about the significance of the day.

The Patriarch also mentioned:

"The Lord Jesus Christ died voluntarily on the cross for our sins, for sinners, in order to save us, to ransom us, and to sanctify us. Thus, when we venerate the Cross of the Savior, we first of all venerate this act of love, this great, self-sacrificial act of love. It is this love that was fulfilled, this sacrifice that was completed on the Cross. We venerate the Cross, but also the hope and joy of our resurrection."
