His many years of contribution to Byzantine music, the Church and Kalymnos were honored by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Leros, Kalymnos and Astipalaia etc. Paisios, delivering an honorary letter to the Lord Master of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Mr. Georgios Hatzitheodorou, recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate of the EKPA. The honorary event was held on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 11 am, at the offices of the Holy Metropolis in Kalymnos, in recognition of the distinguished music teacher's significant contribution to the church musical tradition and the cultural life of Kalymnos.

Georgios Chatzitheodorou, who has also been honored by the Academy of Athens, is an important personality for the island, with a long-standing presence in the training of young cantors.

The Metropolitan expressed the gratitude of the local Church for his contribution to the lectern and to music education. At the same time, he announced that the School of Byzantine Music will organize a special event in his honor, with the participation of graduates and cantors of Kalymnos.
