October 8: Osia Pelagia celebratestranslated

Today the Church honors the memory of the faithful women Pelagia and Taisia. Pelagia was from a glorious family and lived in the famous historical city of Antioch in Syria. When the ruler of the region learned that she was a Christian and was studying the Holy Gospel, he sent soldiers to arrest her. Osia prayed to God to take her to him pure and so she surrendered her body and spirit to the Lord.
St. Taisia the harlot, motivated to her wrong habit and the deterioration of her body, even by her own mother, when she learned that there is salvation and redemption near Christ, repented of her corrupting actions, distributed her belongings to the poor and devoted herself to monasticism. The remaining years of her life were spent in prayer, tears and sighs, an expression of genuine repentance.
Both Ossias, Pelagia and Taisia, are examples of humble people and heroic women, as well as proof that true repentance rests and sanctifies man, whatever his moral fall.
