The feast of Saint Longinus the Centurion in the Metropolis of Corinthtranslated

On Friday, October 16, 2026, the day on which our Holy Church commemorates the Holy Martyr Longinus the Centurion, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Corinth, Mr. Pavlos, officiated at the Orthro and the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Metropolitan Chapel of Agia Fotini in Corinth. St. Longinus, the Roman Centurion who found himself under the Cross of the Lord and, facing the shocking events of the Crucifixion, confessed "True God's Son was this", is a special example of repentance, faith and courageous confession of Christ. The feast of Agios Longinos has been established as the feast of prison guards and prison officials.

During the Divine Liturgy, His Holiness referred to the person and confession of Saint Longinus and addressed paternal wishes to the faithful and especially to the employees of the Corinth Penitentiary, who came to honor their Patron Saint. He prayed that Agios Longinos would strengthen and protect them, giving them strength, patience and illumination in the performance of their demanding and sensitive work.
