The Diocese of Germany awarded the Prime Minister of Bavariatranslated

On Thursday, October 8, 2026, in the parish of All Saints in Munich, the Prime Minister of Bavaria, Dr. Markus Söder, Gold Cross First Class of the Holy Metropolis of Germany. With this highest distinction, the local Church honors and recognizes the constant contribution of the Prime Minister to the deepening of dialogue and mutual understanding between peoples and religions, as well as to the friendly cooperation of Church, State and Society.
Beyond the high symbolism of this honorary award and the historical support that Bavaria offers to the local Orthodox Church, both through the parishes and the Orthodox Theological School at the University of Munich, today acted as a catalyst for the further tightening of relations between Bavaria and Greece.
Before the ceremony, the two sides practically sealed their will for deeper academic and research cooperation, proceeding to sign important Memorandums of Cooperation:
