Perth: Nine neophyte Orthodox Christians in the Annunciation Parish of Theotokostranslated

The Most Reverend Bishop of Perth, Mr. Elpidios, performed on Saturday, October 10, 2026, the Sacrament of Holy Baptism for nine people, who joined the Orthodox Church, after a period of catechism and spiritual preparation, at the Holy Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, in West Perth. It was the third group baptism ceremony held in the Holy Church of the Annunciation during 2026, as two similar ceremonies had preceded it, in May and July. With the nine new Baptisms, the total number of people who have joined the Orthodox Church in this parish this year stands at 30, demonstrating the continued expansion of the Orthodox faith in Western Australia.

The nine neophytes received the baptismal names Maria, Despina, Michael, Christian, Xenia, Elizabeth, Michael, Romanos and Christina.

After the end of the Mass, His Holiness warmly congratulated the neophytes and conveyed to each of them the paternal love and blessings of the Most Reverend Archbishop of Australia Mr. Makarios.
