In the beautiful parable of the Sower, our Lord Jesus gives clear and unambiguous symbolism. "The seed is the word of God," he says. And he adds elsewhere, "My Father is a farmer" (Jn. 15, 1).
God spoke to people "in many ways and in many ways." Many times and in many ways. But first of all, "he spoke us in the Son" (Heb. 1, 1). So Christ announces to us the word of God, makes known all that he "heard from the Father" (Jn. 15, 15), he is par excellence the great heavenly sower (Sunday Luke 4).
But not the only one. There were many who spread the word of God. God spoke through the mouth of "prophets, apostles, preachers, evangelists, witnesses, confessors, teachers". All of these are God's seed, because their words, the good seed of God, reached "to the whole earth, and to the ends of the earth their words".
And even more, all Christians are sowers, since our task is to sow, by deed and word, the word of God in the souls of people. But parents bear this responsibility in particular. And the weight of this responsibility is immeasurably great.
