Didymoteicho Damaskinos and the Minister of Education in Roussatranslated

The Reverend Metropolitan of Didymoteicho, Orestias and Soufli, Mr. Damaskinos, met with the Minister of Education, Religion and Sports Mrs. Sofia Zaharakis on the evening of July 31 AD, as part of her short visit to Roussa, the former Municipality of Orfeos and now Soufli, on the occasion of the annual religious festival of the Bektashi Alevi Muslims of the region, in Tekke Segit Ali Sultan (1354). It should be noted that just a year ago, Law N.5224/2025 was passed by the Hellenic Parliament which officially recognizes the religious community of Bektasi Alevi Muslims of Thrace as a special religious legal entity based in Roussa.

The Minister accompanied by the Supreme Military Commander of Thrace Lt. General Pan. Kavidopoulos, the Commander of the XII Division Major General Pavlos Andrikopoulos and the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thrace Valia Pentarvanis visited the Orthodox Church of Saints Constantine and Helen in Roussa, lit its candle and worshiped the holy icons. His Holiness welcomed her with great emotion and wished her success and God's enlightenment in her responsible work.
