"Once again our homeland is being tested by the devastating fires during this period of time, a fact that causes sadness to all of us", states the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Aetolia and Acarnania Mr. Damascenes in his Circular Note to the Holy Temples and Holy Monasteries of our local Church.

Responding with a spirit of prayer and practical support to this great trial, the Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania decided to offer, at the end of every Holy Prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos, held during the period of the Fifteenth of August, a special prayer for our fire-stricken and grieving brothers, as well as for all those who struggle with self-denial in the fire fronts.

The Church prays that the All-Good God will strengthen the firefighters, volunteers and every person who offers their strength to protect human life, the property of our fellow human beings and the natural environment. At the same time, he wishes to comfort and support those affected by the fiery blaze, giving them strength, hope and speedy recovery of the wounds left behind by the disaster.
