Metropolitan Hieraptynnikos Cyril: Following Christ with Simple Hearttranslated

On Sunday, September 27, 2026, Venerable Metropolitan Hieraptynnikos and Siatia Cyril celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the procession of Matins and subsequently performed and preached the holy Gospel at the cathedral church Panagia Eleousa in the city of Hierapolis. Immediately after the Gospel reading, Venerable Metropolitan Cyril spoke with simplicity and clarity about the messages of the Gospel passage of the miraculous fishing on the Sea of Genesaret, where our Lord Jesus Christ told Simon, later Apostle Peter, to go into deep waters and cast his nets for fish, resulting in both boats being filled with so many fish that they were at risk of sinking. Therefore, Jesus said to him not to fear, as from now on he would be fishing for people.

The Venerable highlighted two great truths from the Gospel passage: first, that our Lord Jesus Christ is omniscient, and second, that we must listen to God's Word and respond to His will according to the answer of Apostle Peter "according to your word I cast the net."
