The Sunday of Matthew I and the Praises of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Holy Metropolis of Kinshasatranslated

The Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kinshasa, Mr. Theodosios, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Nikolaos of the Greek Community of Kinshasa on the morning of Sunday 1st Matthew, August 9, 2026. Collaborating with him was the Protosygello of the Holy Metropolis, Archimandrite Gerasimos, Protopresbyters Kallinikos and Raphael, as well as Deacons Ierotheos, Ioannis, Aaron and Iakovos.
At the Divine Liturgy, the President of the Greek Community of Kinshasa, Mr. Gerasimos Dounis, followed his wife, doctor Mrs. Paraskevi Triantafillou-Dounis, as well as a number of believers.
In his sermon, His Holiness emphasized that man is transformed when he is close to Christ, while he is spiritually deformed when he moves away from Him and follows the devil. He called on the faithful to maintain an uninterrupted relationship with Christ through prayer, repentance and the sacramental life of the Church.
In the afternoon, at the Holy Cathedral of St. Mark the Apostle, His Eminence, the holy clergy and the pious people sang the Praises of the Blessed Virgin Mary, followed by the procession of her Epitaph, that is, her holy icon, in the premises of...
