The Ecumenical Patriarch in Assisi for the International Meeting for Peacetranslated

The Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomew, participated today, Tuesday, October 27, 2026, in the International Meeting for Peace held in Assisi, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the historic meeting convened in 1986 by Pope John Paul II. The Ecumenical Patriarch was the honored person of the international meeting "A disarmed and disarming peace" organized by the Catholic organization Sant' Egidio. During his speech at the Forum "the Ecumenical Patriarchate, from the East to the united world", His Holiness underlined that "the Church which preaches the Resurrection must, at the same time, preach peace".
"Where new walls of division are created, the Church has the obligation to pray, mediate and rebuild relationships. We must have confidence that, as a central point of reference, the human being - every human being - will remain without discrimination", added His Holiness who once again made it clear that "the color of the skin, language, religion or gender, cannot add or take away anything from the dignity of a human being created in the image of the Lord".
