Consecration of the trade fair of Avlonaritranslated

On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, with the start of this year's trade festival established by tradition for many years in Chania Avlonariou Kymis, the consecration was performed by Protopresbyter Georgios Kosyfas, vicar of the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos Avlonariou. The consecration ceremony was attended by the Member of Parliament of Evia Mrs. Konstantina Karabatsoli, the Mayor of Kymi - Aliveriou, Mr. Nikolaos Barakos, the President of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Kymi Aliveriou, Mr. Georgios Zervas, the Deputy Mayors of Kymi, Mr. Argyris Pafras, Vasilios Falireas Aliveriou, Mr. George Stroumboulis, Mr. Sofia Votsi, Mr. Nikolaos Mastrokostas Avlonariou, Mr. Georgios Kotsaris, as well as the President of DEVAKA, Mr. Georgios Papadiochos.
The roots of the trade fair can be found in the early years of the Turkish rule, when products were traded almost exclusively in bazaars.
Initially, the bazaar was held in the settlement of Agia Thekla, where the eponymous Byzantine church of Agia Thekla is located.
Around 1870 it was moved to Avlonari, in the precincts of the three-fold holy church of Ag. Dimitriou in Chania Avlonariou.
