In an atmosphere of emotion, jubilation and spiritual joy, the collection of the remains of Saint Onufrios took place in Koronesia, Arta, where his tomb is also located, after the notification from the local Church of Preveza about his finding. The collection took place on Thursday, October 1, 2026, and was carried out by the Most Reverend Metropolitans of Nicopolis and Preveza, Mr. Chrysostomos and Mr. Artis, Mr. Kallinikos.
The tomb of Saint Onouphrios is located in the chapel of the same name near the catholicon of what used to be the Holy Monastery of Genesis of the Theotokos of Koronesia - now the parish church of the island. There, in the morning before the removal, a divine service was held, after which the tomb was opened and the holy relics were collected, which, after being beautified by the Most Reverend Metropolitans, were placed in a special altar and taken in a procession to the Holy Church of the Genesis of the Virgin, where they are now kept and worshipped.
