The Metropolitan of Volokolamsk met with the Patriarch of Georgiatranslated

With His Beatitude Patriarch of Georgia Mr. Sio III met today, September 30, 2026, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Volokolamsk, Mr. Antonio, President of the Department of External Church Relations (TEES) of the Moscow Patriarchate. The visitors were welcomed by His Beatitude the Patriarch Mr. Meanwhile, the members of Metropolitan Antoniou's entourage, Deacon Nikolai Balasov, deputy head of TEES, Dean Igor Yakimchuk, assistant to the head of the same department, Father Nikolai Vasin, as well as the representative of the Moscow Patriarchate in Georgia, Vladimir Alexandrov, also attended the Patriarchal Residence.

The guests congratulated the Primate of the Georgian Orthodox Church on his enthronement as Patriarch and personally conveyed to him the congratulations of the Patriarch of Russia while thanking the Catholic-Patriarch of all Georgia for the hospitality.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations. Attention was focused on the situation in conflict-ridden areas and what can be done for the Georgian Orthodox Church to find ways to reach out to local believers.
