The 114th Anniversary of the Liberation of Lemnostranslated

The Deputy Minister of National Defense Thanasis Davakis attended today, Thursday, October 8, 2026, as a representative of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, at the celebrations in Limnos, for the 114th Anniversary of the liberation of the island from the Turkish yoke. Mr. Davakis attended the Doxology at the Metropolitan Holy Church of the Holy Trinity of Myrina, which was officiated by the Protosygello of the Holy Metropolis of Lemnos and Agios Efstratiou Archimandrite Father Ieronymos Schiza. He then went to Iroos, where a memorial service and laying of wreaths took place, while he then attended the military and student parade.

Also present were the MPs Charalambos Athanasiou, Panagiotis Doudonis and Panagiotis Paraskevaidis, the Regional Governor of North Aegean Kostas Moutzouris, the Mayor of Lemnos Eleonora Georgios, the Commander of ASDAAM Lieutenant General Dimitrios Vakentis, the Mayor of Agios Efstratiou Konstantinos Sinanis, the Commander of the 88th SDI Brigadier General Aristidis Nakos, representatives of parties, Security Forces, Local Government, Officers and NCOs of the Armed Forces, Associations of Apostates and Reserve Officers, bodies and associations.

A good mention of liberation. It is interesting that it was in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Myryn that Father Hieronymus Schizas served, and then there was the laying of wreaths at the memorial. It is a pity that the text was cut off in half a word, I would like to read what the minister said after the ceremony.
