Founding Memorial at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Dimitrios the Patron Saint of Kifissiatranslated

With A.N. 136 /September 24-25, 1936, the Holy Metropolis of Attica and Megaridos was founded, with headquarters in Kifissia, with territorial regions granted by the Holy Archdiocese of Athens by the blessed Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Mr. Chrysostomos Papadopoulos. Since then, Kifissia has been the seat of the Holy Metropolis of Attica and Megaridos (1936-1974) and its divisions, i.e. Attica (1974-2010) and the current Holy Metropolis of Kifisia, Amarousiou, Oropou and Marathon in 2010 with the Metropolitan Church of Agios Dimitrios of Kifisia, who is also the patron of the city, the first Metropolitan of Attica and Megaridos was elected on September 29, 1936, the then Prime Minister of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens and Titular Bishop of Christoupolis Iakovos Vavanatsos. In other words, this year marks 90 years (1936-2026) since the founding of the Diocese of Attica and Megaridos and its divisions based in Kifissia and the Metropolitan Church, Agios Dimitrios Kifissia.
