Mytilini: Work has begun on the Georgiadis mansion - From 1885 to today, as a cultural centertranslated

Repair work is starting on an iconic 19th century mansion for Mytilene, the so-called "Georgiadis mansion" on Epano Skala in the northern city. It is a mansion, a typical example of eclectic neoclassicism whose construction in several sources is placed in 1885 – 1888 and its design is attributed to the architect Argyris Adalis.
The process for its purchase from its private owners began during the Prefecture of Lesvos Dimitris Vounatsou and was completed in 2004, during the Prefecture of Pavlos Vogiatzis. With the implementation of the administrative reform of "Kallicratis" and the abolition of the Prefectural Self-Governments, the property came to the North Aegean Region, to which it now belongs.
In 2019, with the decisions of the competent bodies of the Region, the necessary studies for the complete repair and restoration of the mansion were assigned to the architects Giorgos Verveniotis and Giorgos Kakkes.
