Nuevas encuestas muestran una caída en picado del apoyo entre los grupos religiosos al gobierno israelí y a Netanyahutraducido

(RNS) – Un par de nuevas encuestas indican que los estadounidenses están descontentos con Israel a raíz de la guerra en Gaza, y las opiniones sobre la nación, su gobierno e incluso el pueblo israelí están disminuyendo, mientras que las opiniones sobre los palestinos se han mantenido prácticamente sin cambios.

Dos encuestas distintas publicadas esta semana revelaron el cambio, la más reciente de las cuales Pew Research dio a conocer el jueves (9 de julio). La encuesta, realizada a principios de mayo, encontró que la mayoría de los adultos estadounidenses (62%) ahora ven al gobierno israelí de manera desfavorable, un cambio de casi 20 puntos con respecto a 2022, cuando solo el 43% decía lo mismo.

Es más, las opiniones positivas sobre el pueblo israelí cayeron significativamente: el 52% de los adultos estadounidenses las ven favorablemente, una disminución de 15 puntos con respecto a 2022. Eso coloca a los israelíes aproximadamente a la par de las opiniones estadounidenses sobre el pueblo palestino, que rondan el 50% de favorabilidad, sólo tres puntos menos que en 2022.

The drop from 43% to 62% unfavorable on the Israeli government in just a couple years is pretty striking. I wonder how much of that is the endless news cycle versus actual shifts in what people think about Netanyahu himself. Our parish prayer list still includes both Israelis and Palestinians every week, same as always.
