Monastery of Saint John Vladimir in Albania celebrates Feast with pilgrims from across the Balkans

The Monastery of Saint John Vladimir in Shijon, near Elbasan, Albania, celebrated its patronal feast on June 3–4, drawing large numbers of faithful not only from Albania but also from Montenegro, Serbia, and other neighboring countries.

Pilgrims gathered at the historic monastery to venerate the wonderworking relics of Saint John Vladimir, which are revered throughout the Balkans for their association with numerous healings and spiritual blessings.

On the eve of the feast, Wednesday, June 3, the relics of Saint John Vladimir were solemnly transferred from Tirana to the monastery. The relics were welcomed and venerated by Metropolitan Anthony of Elbasan, Bishop Ignatius of Amantia, local clergy, and a large congregation of faithful.

A festive hierarchical Vespers service followed, including the blessing of the loaves, presided over by Metropolitan Anthony and concelebrated by Bishop Ignatius.

On the feast day itself, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Metropolitan Nathanael of Gjirokastër. Concelebrating were Metropolitan Anthony of Elbasan and Bishop Ignatius of Amantia, together with numerous priests from the region.
