Historic moment: The rebuilt church in Boian, in the oldest Romanian community in Canada, will be consecratedtranslated

The Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada and the Parish of the "Assumption of the Virgin Mary" have announced the date and schedule of the consecration of the new church of the oldest Romanian Orthodox community on Canadian territory: the church of the Boian Parish in Alberta Province.

Boian Parish, founded 128 years ago by Romanian emigrants from the North Bucovina town of the same name, is one of the oldest Romanian communities in the entire North American territory.

After the old church, dating from 1905, burned down in 2023, the Boian Parish in Alberta, Canada, rebuilt it according to an improved plan: 50% more floor space, energy-efficient heating and improved accessibility.

The program of the consecration of the church will coincide with that of the patron saint of the community.

Saturday, August 15 09:00 – Consecration service of the new church

10:00 – Holy and Divine Liturgy
