A fragment of the relics of Saint Blandina from Iași was taken to Cahul, in the Diocese of Southern Bessarabia, on Tuesday on the occasion of the feast of Saint Hierarch Dionysius, Bishop of the White Citadel-Ismail, the protector of the diocese and the Cathedral in the municipality.
Bishop Veniamin of South Bessarabia, as well as clerics and believers from the city, attended the reliquary reception.
The chalice was taken by the Most Reverend Father Nichifor Botoșaneanul, Vicar Bishop of the Archdiocese of Iasi, to the Diocesan Center.
A link on both banks of the Prut On this occasion, His Eminence highlighted Saint Blandina's testimony of faith and her steadfastness in the face of the persecutions of the communist regime.
The hierarch showed that bringing the fragment of his holy relics to Bessarabia as an "arch over time", which expresses the connection between the Romanians on the two banks of the Prut, through faith, language and spiritual belonging.
For his part, the Bishop of South Bessarabia thanked Metropolitan Teofan of Moldavia and Bucovina for the gift offered to the diocese.
