Metropolitan Laurentiu celebrates his spiritual protectortranslated

His Holiness Father Laurentiu, the Metropolitan of Transylvania, celebrates his spiritual protector, the Holy Martyr Laurentiu the Archdeacon, on Monday.
He was born on October 12, 1947, in Sâmbăta de Sus, Brașov county, and was baptized as Liviu.
He studied at the "Radu Negru" High School in Făgăraş and at the University Theological Institute in Sibiu, which he graduated in 1969. In the same year, he was ordained a priest on behalf of the Lisa Parish in the Diocese of Făgăraş.
Later, he carried out an extensive didactic activity at the Theological Institute in Sibiu, where he taught Liturgy, Pastoral and Christian Art and guided students to the seminars of Liturgical Practice.
His theological training was completed by studies in Switzerland, at the Ecumenical Institute of Bossey and at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Fribourg. In 1985 he defended his doctorate in theology in Bucharest, under the guidance of Fr. Ene Braniste. At the same time, he was scientific secretary of the Faculty of Theology in Sibiu and PhD supervisor.
Priestly service On July 20, 1996, he was ordained a monk, at Brâncoveanu Monastery, Sâmbăta de Sus, receiving the name of Laurenţiu.
