Metropolitan Irineu consecrated a church in Gorj: God blessed and built this house with our handstranslated

On Sunday, Metropolitan Irineu of Oltenia re-consecrated the church in Vladimir township, Gorj county, dedicated to Saint Parascheva: "God blessed and built this house by our hands".

The program continued with the Holy Liturgy, where His Eminence showed the connection between the healing of the soul and that of the body, starting from the Gospel of the healing of the emaciated man in Capernaum.

"Our savior Jesus Christ tells him: Your sins are forgiven, son! This statement confirms to us that illness is the result of sin, that man first suffers in the soul, then his body also gets sick."

"The Son of God tells them that he has the power to heal diseases and forgive sins, because all this is in God's power," the Metropolitan of Oltenia also said.

Grace is acquired in the Church His Holiness Father Irineu emphasized that true spiritual strengthening is achieved through participation in liturgical life.

"Let us be faithful children of God, let us have faith, let us have love in Christ and in His Church. The strength of grace is gained only in the Church, where we come to the Source of grace, to the Lord...

Thank God for such joy in Vladimir’s parish. I especially remember the metropolitan’s words that first the soul is sick, and then the body - this was accurately noted. It’s good when after consecration there is immediately Liturgy and a reminder that the real gift of grace is only in the Church.

Thank God that Metropolitan Irenaeus said so clearly about the blind man from Capernaum: first he forgives sins, and only then the body becomes healthy. In our family, we also noticed how you really confess, and your head stops hurting. It is good that after the rite of consecration the Liturgy was served immediately, without this there is no real grace.

I agree, Sergei, these words of the Metropolitan about soul and body are right on point. When I’m fishing, I often think about how my body seems healthy, but inside I’m restless—until you go to church, it won’t let you go. What has noticeably changed in your parish after such consecration?
