Metropolitan Ioan will become an Honorary Citizen of the Municipality of Timișoaratranslated

His Eminence Father Ioan, Metropolitan of Banat, will receive the title of Honorary Citizen of the Municipality of Timișoara.  The awarding ceremony will take place on August 3, starting at 5:30 p.m., during the festivities organized by Timisoara Day at the Banatul Philharmonic.

The decision comes following the approval by the Timișoara City Council of the draft decision on conferring the title of Honorary Citizen to His Holiness Father Ioan.

According to the document, the distinction is awarded "for his outstanding contribution to the spiritual and social life of the Timisoara community and for the devotion with which he supports people in need, cultivating solidarity and caring for the vulnerable".

In the press release announcing the proposals for the title of Honorary Citizen, the Timișoara City Hall stated that Metropolitan Ioan has been serving in Banat for over a decade and that, during this period, "he has become an important presence in the spiritual and social life of Timișoara".
