Metropolitan Pavel addressed the audience and read out a greeting from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus', which, in particular, noted the historical contribution of Yuri Luzhkov to the revival of the all-Russian shrine of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior - the main cathedral church of the Russian Orthodox Church. “The name of Yuri Mikhailovich Luzhkov is forever inscribed in the history of the capital and our country.

Let the monument, the opening of which is timed to coincide with his 90th anniversary, become a visible evidence of our gratitude to the man who worked hard and hard for the benefit of Moscow and Muscovites,” noted in his welcoming address...
