Metropolitan Nikita consecrated the monument to St. Luke in the village of Bolshaya Murtatranslated

On September 29, Metropolitan Nikita of Krasnoyarsk and Achinsk, temporary administrator of the Yenisei diocese, performed the rite of consecration of the bust of St. Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky) in the village of Bolshaya Murta.

The monument is erected opposite the building of the surgical building of the regional hospital, where in 1940–1941, while in exile, the future saint-confessor operated. The initiative to create the monument belongs to the Russian statesman, lawyer, TV presenter of the Spas channel and writer Pavel Astakhov, as well as philanthropists. The main installation and construction work was completed on September 25, the surrounding area was also landscaped: in the future it is planned to arrange an area with benches, lanterns and flower beds.

The solemn opening ceremony of the monument began with an archpastoral word: Bishop Nikita noted the importance of preserving the memory of St. Luke and his legacy for current and future generations, after which he presented the medal of the Yenisei Diocese to Pavel Astakhov and bishop’s letters to everyone involved in the appearance of the monument.
