On October 23, 2026, Governor of the Rostov Region Yuri Slyusar held a meeting of the council on the integrated development of the village of Starocherkasskaya, in which the Head of the Don Metropolis, Metropolitan of Rostov and Novocherkassk Mercury, took part. Among the participants was also the abbot of the Don Starocherkassky Efremovsky Monastery, Hegumen Sergius (Kolomits).

The key objective of the meeting was to determine the vector of development of the village, which will harmoniously combine the preservation of its unique historical appearance with the creation of a modern point of attraction for tourists and residents of the region. “We need to preserve the historical, cultural, religious identity and uniqueness of this place. At the same time, make it a point of attraction for residents of the region and tourists, creating a modern hospitality infrastructure,” said Yuriy Slyusar.

The chairman of the committee for the protection of cultural heritage sites of the Rostov region, Irina Korobova, informed about plans for the development of Starocherkasskaya.
