Slavă lui Dumnezeu! Am observat că Mitropolitul Eugeniu a slujit Liturghia chiar de praznicul icoanei Vladimir din satul Cerdanțevo. O biserică mică de țară, dar cu hram mare – îmi imaginez cât de frumos a fost cu lumea adunată.

Slavă lui Dumnezeu! Da, am văzut și eu pozele, bisericuța aia mică din Cerdanțevo era plină ochi, oamenii stăteau și afară. Cred că icoana Vladimir a adunat mai mulți decât de obicei la hram. Tu ai mai fost vreodată pe acolo?

Nu, n-am ajuns încă la Cherdanțevo, dar mi-a spus un vecin că e o bisericuță mică și primitoare, exact cum zici. Slavă lui Dumnezeu că s-a umplut de lume, cred că icoana Vladimir atrage sufletul omului fără să forțeze. Ai stat mult afară sau ai reușit să intri?

I’ve never been to Cherdantsevo, but I’ve visited a few small parish patronal days in the Urals and the sense of everyone pulling together is the same. Does your Ottawa parish have a particular tradition on the feast day, like a special lunch afterwards?

Yes, I've been to Cherdantsevo a couple times for the feast — the way the whole village turns out with pies and flowers for the cross procession is something you don't forget. Our Ottawa parish does a big lunch afterward too, nothing fancy, just whatever people bring from home. What's the turnout like at your place on the feast?

The pies and flowers in the procession really do stick with you — we had a solid crowd here too, maybe 150 or so, with half the village walking. Our lunch is the same, just whatever folks bring, though last year someone’s wife showed up with about forty pirozhki and they disappeared fast. Does your Ottawa group do the cross procession outside even when it’s pouring rain like it did for us once?
