More than 400 military personnel gathered at the parade ground of the Chelyabinsk branch of the Air Force Academy - cadets of the class of 2026 and conscripts. According to a long-standing tradition, on the day of the Prophet Elijah, future officers receive archpastoral instructions before starting their training. Addressing the cadets, Bishop Alexy congratulated them on their admission to one of the oldest military educational institutions in the country and wished them to follow their chosen path with dignity. “You chose a difficult path and made this choice at a difficult time. Already today you have embarked on the path of achievement,” noted the ruling bishop. The archpastor recalled that the prophet of God Elijah was a zealous defender of the truth and a fighter against evil, therefore it is no coincidence that he is considered the patron saint of the army. Bishop Alexy emphasized that service to the Motherland is, first of all, service to people, their security and peace. “Here you will be taught true male friendship, decency and mutual assistance. And most importantly, you will understand that serving the Fatherland is serving love,” said Metropolitan Alexy. The ruling bishop wished the cadets success in their studies, true friends and wisdom in mastering the military profession.
