Metropolitan Alexy celebrated the Liturgy on the first day of the Dormition Lenttranslated

On the day of the celebration of the Destruction of the Venerable Tree of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass celebrates the Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ. Concelebrating with the archpastor was the dean of the Bishop's Deanery, Archpriest Boris Krivonogov, and the clergy of the churches of Chelyabinsk. The chants were performed by the mixed horn of the cathedral under the direction of regent Yulia Vasina. The day before, the Holy Cross, as well as particles of the Life-giving Cross of the Lord, were brought from the altar to the center of the church. After the Liturgy, the clergy deflected the Cross with the singing of the troparion: “We worship Your Cross, O Master, and we glorify Your holy Resurrection.” According to tradition, the feast of Metropolitan Alexy blessed the honey of the new harvest. In his sermon, the archpastor congratulated the parishioners on the holiday and the beginning of the Dormition Fast. “Today begins a fast that is dedicated to our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary.

Fasting is special, gracious, because we have the opportunity to thank God many times for all His blessings that He pours out on all of us, for the fact that He does not leave us His mercy.
